Job description

This person will play a key role in helping the DFC team maintain the overall facility and the many assets used throughout the building. This includes changing and/or servicing all material handling equipment (MHE) batteries, maintaining and running the floor scrubber, operating the baler/compactor and performing light utility and maintenance activities for the facility.


General DC Maintenance Functions:

  1. Maintaining the battery charging area and batteries.
  2. Changing the batteries on all MHE.
  3. Maintaining baling operations.
  4. Performing light utility & maintenance work around the facility (i.e. repairs, assembly, relocating and setting up assets).
  5. Running and maintaining the floor scrubber.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to operate and maintain all cleaning equipment including the operation and maintenance of a floor scrubber and corrugate baler.
  2. Ability to operate and maintain battery changing equipment including the exchange of MHE batteries.
  3. Ability to operate any material handling equipment associated with DC support and maintenance (i.e. floor scrubber, scissor lifts, battery changing equipment, MHE).
  4. Complete minor utility assignments around the facility through the use of various hand and power tools.
  5. Work safely and productively with minimal supervision.
  6. Maintain orderly condition and housekeeping of your assigned work area.
  7. Identify and report any repairs or safety issues requiring attention.
  8. Be reliable by maintaining good attendance with minimal occurrences of lateness.
  9. Display behaviors that are consistent with Home Depot's Values.
  10. Consistently adhere to all Home Depot policies and procedures.
  11. Follow Home Depot safety policies and procedures and encourage other Associates to do the same.
  12. Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Manager to effectively complete assigned tasks.
  13. Deliver outstanding customer service to internal distribution teams, maintaining attention to detail and completing assigned work in a timely manner.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Experience Required:

  1. Previous Distribution/Transportation experience is an asset.
  2. Experience operating a forklift or Walkie-rider is an asset.
  3. Able to move and/or lift up to 69 pounds.
  4. Able to work at heights up to 36 feet.
  5. Ability to work well with others in a group and foster a team climate where associates are committed to a common set of performance goals and targets.
  6. Must be able and willing to perform all related job functions and activities.
  7. Very good communication and listening skills are required.
  8. Able to work additional hours as required supporting the needs of our customers.
