SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the General Manager will direct and coordinate the day-to-day activities of Final Mile operations and collaborate on business development which includes supervision of team members, route planning, receiving, systems administration, route monitoring, broker recruitment & management, contract negotiations, and development of client relationships. The Manager will oversee operations in compliance with standard operating procedures and company policy, ensure the training of employees and transportation service providers, set performance goals, organize work, and maintain a productive and participatory environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall responsibility for ensuring staff are well equipped and motivated to meet company targets.
  • Provide relevant and reliable market intelligence information to senior management and identify target markets.
  • Communicate client information to key Transport stakeholders and assist with start-up planning and handover to the Transportation Team.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Business Development team related to new account sales, onboarding, and strategic support during the sales cycle.
  • Understand and help further develop the company's services, features, benefits, and pricing to increase sales revenue and growth.
  • Keep informed on competitive services, pricing, and marketing policies. Utilize resources and perform research to determine sales approach and strategies.
  • Ensure the established targets and KPIs for each customer are adequately communicated and achieved at all hubs (NPS, On Time, SOP compliance, growth).
  • Organize and participate in daily/weekly/monthly operational meetings as required to report on various operational performance metrics.
  • Prepare, present, and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Ensure that Dispatch, Customer Service, and Delivery operations are working collaboratively and efficiently.
  • Assist in developing and implementing standardized SOPs throughout the region.
  • Promote innovation, efficiency, and a culture of continuous improvement at all sites in the assigned region. Share best practices with other sites and regions.
  • Ensure operation is in compliance with the company Health and Safety Program.
  • Required to travel regularly to visit teams within assigned region(s).
  • Ensure employee and delivery teams are well trained to provide seamless and timely delivery of service.
  • Communicate with and respond to customer service inquiries.
  • Accountable for troubleshooting problems through to resolution, escalating as necessary.
  • Assume additional related responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in the Supply Chain/Distribution/Transportation industry or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related software.
