Recognized as the 2019 and 2022 Canadian Automotive Dealers Association (CADA) Laureate Award Winner for Business Innovation, Destination Auto Group is looking for the best candidate to join us as General Manager at our Destination Mazda Vancouver dealership. This high-level position requires the right candidate to oversee, lead, and grow the dealership’s operations.
In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the dealership and to ensure all Company objectives are achieved. The successful candidate will be a true leader, committed to growing the business by increasing market share, developing loyal and satisfied customers, and continuing to build a team of high-performing, engaged Associates. What you’ll be doing:
- Report to, and work closely with, the Group Executive Team, on all matters of planning and dealership operations.
- Review with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer on a regular basis, departmental and dealership financial results and forecasts to identify and address business issues.
- Meet with managers to develop monthly and annual goals and objectives. Hold regular meetings with management to review overall dealership performance to ensure that each department is operating efficiently and profitably and to discuss current issues affecting the team.
- Demonstrate effective leadership and foster a strong personal interest in customer enthusiasm among all departments, leading the team to success and building strong employee morale.
- Communicate management policies and procedures to all employees and ensure that they are clear, understood, and are followed.
- Develop and maintain strong community and customer relationships with solid rapport with manufacturers, vendors, and the general business community.
- Resolve, fairly and effectively, customer complaints that departmental managers are unable to correct.
- Be the ultimate decision-maker in key team member selection decisions, measuring the performance of individuals and the dealership overall.
- Analyze the various drivers of the business with the goal of optimizing for profit through strategic planning and tactical execution.
- Observe and proactively address trends in the market with a view to create sustainable competitive advantages.
- Collaborate with the marketing department to develop timely and effective marketing strategies.
What we need from you:
- Minimum 5 years of related automotive senior management experience, in variable or fixed operations.
- University degree with a major in business, finance, mathematics, accounting, or economics.
- Specialization in a functional area would be considered an asset.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and choose the appropriate option.
- Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve performance to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Efficient knowledge of various software programs, including MS Office, and use of other dealership programs.
- Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports.
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and provide feedback to associates, as well as accepting and acting on feedback.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and use time effectively in order to set action plans to achieve business targets.
