Responsibilities:

The selected individual will perform the following functions:
•Develop and implement long-term strategies and initiatives to optimize the performance and reliability of our railway fleet and infrastructure.
•Lead a multidisciplinary team of mechanics, technicians, and support staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure a high level of performance and accountability.
•Maintain existing contacts and increase the network of industry contacts to provide locomotive maintenance and repair services across Western Canada.
•Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of rolling stock, locomotives, and other mechanical equipment in compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
•Develop and implement asset management strategies to maximize the lifespan and value of our customer assets, including the development of maintenance schedules, lifecycle cost analysis, and performance monitoring.
•Stay abreast of the latest developments and advancements in railway mechanical engineering technology, systems, and practices, and provide technical guidance and expertise to support decision-making processes.
•Ensure all mechanical operations comply with relevant safety regulations, standards, and procedures, conducting risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate safety hazards and operational risks.
•Develop and manage budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective maintenance practices while meeting performance and safety targets.
•Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, engineering, human resources and safety department, as well as external partners and regulatory agencies, to support the overall objectives of the organization and maintain effective communication channels.

General Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Asset) or related field, or equivalent experience in the railroad industry.
•Certification in Railroad Safety, Mechanical and/or electrical fields. (important asset)
•Minimum 5 years of experience in railway mechanical field.
•Knowledge of railroad mechanical systems, equipment, and operations, including locomotives, rolling stock, and maintenance practices.
•Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams, foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and drive results.
•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
•Proven track record of successful project management, budget control, and regulatory compliance.
•Experience with asset management systems and maintenance planning software preferred.
