Summary:
We are seeking a skilled General Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision power transmission products. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, technical drawings, and quality control standards to ensure all products meet specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machines such as lathes, milling machines, and drill presses to fabricate metal parts.
Interpret technical blueprints and specifications to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
Measure and inspect completed parts using precision tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Select appropriate tools, materials, and cutting speeds based on the job requirements.
Collaborate with engineers and production team members to improve processes and resolve technical issues.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
Document production activities and report any deviations or defects to supervisors.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist apprenticeship or technical training program preferred.
5+ years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machinery.
Strong knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tooling.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures in a machine shop environment.
Basic computer skills for operating CNC controls and recording data.
Fluent in English; written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
