Heading up a large legal team can be challenging. Doing so in a not-for-profit organization adds another layer of complexity. Knowing that your team is working to protect the public makes it all worth it.
This role has several key responsibilities: provide leadership to a dynamic group of managers and their teams, collaborate cross-functionally to ensure decisions are not made in silos, and deliver expert counsel to the executive team and the board.
Head of Legal/General Counsel
This is a unique opportunity to bring your legal and leadership experience to a team that respects expertise and looks internally first for advice and guidance on transactional and strategic matters.
There are a lot of moving pieces in the services provided by this mid-sized organization, and the legal team serves as a critical integration point. This new leader will need to be comfortable taking a holistic view of the business, bringing an empathetic but practical approach to problem solving, and acting as a model advisor, exercising maturity and discretion.
This role will suit a qualified lawyer who has led significant and high performing teams, knows their way around litigation and trial processes, and has a reputation for reducing delays, difficulties, and drama.
This is a permanent position and comes with the sort of compensation package you would find in a typical not-for-profit: a reasonable base salary, better than average benefits, and a respect for outside work activities. The office is in Toronto and the team is working a hybrid schedule.
If this sounds like the next chapter of your legal career, we encourage you to apply.
