Garage Door Installer Helper

We have an immediate opening for a Garage Door Installer Helper located in the Calgary branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Helper will work as part of a two-person crew, assisting in the service and/or installation of residential or commercial doors while learning on the job from the Garage Door Technician. This role is a permanent, full-time position with opportunities for advancement.

• Focus on quality workmanship
• Champion safety standards
• Work with hand tools, electric tools, and ladders
• Regularly interact with warehouse staff, construction Project Managers, customers, other trades, and safety personnel
• Take direction from the Garage Door Technician and provide support
• Actively participate in learning the trade
• Perform general warehouse duties
• Other duties as assigned

Skills:

• Resourcefulness, integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment
• Comfortable with heights (ladders & lifts)
• Knowledge of overhead doors, sectional, rolling steel, high speed, or specialty doors would be considered an asset
• Intention to learn the trade and progress to Overhead Door Technician certification

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 - 6 months’ experience in a relevant trade (construction, welding, millwright)
• Resourcefulness, integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment
• Possess a valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract
• Any relevant safety training and tickets is an asset (WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid)
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions, including cold and extreme heat, and perform tasks such as lifting, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, lying down, squatting, kneeling, and managing equipment and tools
• Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements including drug, alcohol, and health assessment
• New hire candidates will be required to provide a current Driver’s Abstract at their own cost
