The Game Data Analyst will play a key role in leveraging data to drive insights, inform decision-making, and optimize the performance of our mobile games. You will apply advanced statistical analysis and data-driven strategies to enhance player experiences and improve game performance, contributing directly to our success in the competitive mobile gaming market.
Team: This role sits on our Data and Insights Team and reports directly to our Department Lead. The Game Data Analyst will work closely with our Data Engineer, and partner with our live operations team to support and grow our games performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Insights: Analyze game performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimization, such as player retention, monetization strategies, and game balance.
- Advanced Analytics: Utilize advanced analytics techniques to extract valuable insights from player data, influencing design and product strategy across our portfolio of live games.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with game designers and product managers to measure the impact and success of new game features and live service events. Establish benchmarks, provide actionable recommendations, and guide teams from planning through launch.
- Data Pipeline Management: Work with data engineers and developers to maintain and enhance data pipelines, ensuring reliable and efficient data collection, storage, and processing. Develop and maintain data models to support organizational needs.
- Tool Development: Contribute to the creation and improvement of analytics tools and dashboards, empowering stakeholders to access and interpret game data efficiently.
- Predictive Modeling: Develop and validate predictive models to forecast key metrics like LTV, churn, and player segmentation, supporting data-driven decisions.
- A/B Testing: Design and execute A/B tests to provide actionable recommendations for game development and live operations teams.
- Best Practices & Mentorship: Establish best practices for data quality and consistency, while mentoring and coaching data consumers across the studio to promote data literacy.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in game data analysis, including data preprocessing, analysis, and visualization.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Computer Science; advanced degree preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale datasets; familiarity with Python or R is a plus. Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and advanced statistical techniques is required.
- Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior team members, and collaborate effectively across departments. Strong communication skills for presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Gaming Industry Knowledge: Passion for gaming with a deep understanding of mobile gaming trends, mechanics, player behavior, and game KPIs.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.

We’re working remotely; we’ll supply the equipment you need to do your work and to set up your work space. We have a flexible work schedule, three weeks of vacation, flexible sick days, and a generous health benefits package. We are open to candidates outside of Canada, with the requirement to work in the Pacific time zone. Compensation is determined by role, level and location. For candidates located in British Columbia, the salary range for this role is CAD $75,000 to $95,000 annually.
