Location: Remote & On-site (Gallery open Saturdays, potential for increased hours)
Type: Part-time, with potential to grow into full-time
Compensation: Commission based with guaranteed minimum $17.50 to $25.00 per hour.

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Gallery Marketing Associate to play a key role in the growth of our gallery, which has a rich 60+ year cultural history. This role combines managing the gallery’s online presence with overseeing in-person operations during open hours. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to growing the gallery’s brand, which emphasizes meritocratic value in art and classical excellence. A deep appreciation for art and the distinctiveness of Nova Scotia’s history and culture is essential.

The position starts as a part-time role, with a requirement to be present every Saturday from 10am to 5pm for the gallery’s open hours. Additional responsibilities include special events and, potentially, expanding open hours to 3 days a week during the summer. As the gallery’s success grows, so will the opportunity to increase involvement, with the position offering commission-based compensation and the potential to share in the ongoing success of the gallery.

This role is ideal for a self-driven, brand-focused individual with experience in digital marketing, brand management, and event planning, ready to take ownership of both the gallery’s digital strategy and on-site experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Brand Management & Digital Marketing:

  • Develop and maintain a strong online presence for the gallery, managing platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Pinterest.
  • Create and execute engaging content that aligns with the gallery’s brand values and cultural legacy.
  • Run paid advertising campaigns on platforms such as Facebook Ads, Instagram, and Google Ads, and track campaign performance.
  • Craft compelling monthly email newsletters using tools like Mailchimp or Klaviyo, featuring new artworks, upcoming exhibitions, and special offers.
  • Work with the artist and gallery team to design promotions and sales strategies that reflect the gallery’s vision and standards of classical excellence.

On-site Gallery Sales & Event Management:

  • Be present every Saturday (10am to 5pm) to run and oversee gallery operations, engaging with visitors and managing sales transactions.
  • Organize and manage private gallery visits by appointment during the week.
  • Plan and execute special events, such as gallery openings and artist talks, promoting these events to drive engagement and attendance.
  • Assist in expanding open hours during the summer months, increasing to up to 3 days per week as required.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, providing insights into the artworks and promoting the gallery’s vision and history.

Entrepreneurial Growth & Opportunity:

  • This position is an important step in the gallery’s expansion, and the successful candidate will be an integral part of its growth. You will have the opportunity to shape the brand’s future and share in its ongoing success.
  • The role starts with part-time hours (remote and on-site), with compensation based on sales commissions and a guaranteed minimum. As the business grows, this position has the potential to become full-time.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to manage social media platforms and run digital marketing campaigns.
  • Understanding of brand management and the cultural significance of a 60+ year gallery legacy.
  • A deep appreciation for art and the distinctiveness of Nova Scotia’s history and culture.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage both digital strategies and on-site gallery operations.
  • Strong communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to sales.
  • A passion for art and an appreciation for classical excellence and meritocratic value in the arts.

Compensation:

  • Part-time commitment, including on-site hours every Saturday and involvement in gallery events.
  • Commission-based compensation with a guaranteed minimum, and opportunities to grow with the gallery’s success.
