Job description

On behalf of our client, a prestigious wealth management firm based in Toronto, we are looking for a Analyst/ Senior Analyst, Fund Administration & Oversight to join their team. The hiring company is one of the leading wealth management firms in Canada, with headquarter in downtown Toronto and many regional offices across the country. They currently manage ~$6 billion of assets for many high-net worth individuals and families.

We are looking for a a bright and motivated individual to join their dynamic Finance & Accounting team. The compensation package is competitive and includes a generous benefit and bonus scheme. They also offer great work-life balance with a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for executing policies and procedures related to fund administration and oversight, including:
  • Reviewing daily fund NAV calculations
  • Conducting bi-weekly reviews of cash reconciliations prepared by the third-party fund administrator
  • Preparing portfolio asset and unitholder reconciliations; investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Calculating fund expense reimbursements to the manager
  • Reviewing fund distribution calculations
  • Coordinating with third-party fund administrators and auditors
  • Preparing audit documentation and supporting the fund audit process
  • Assisting in the preparation of the funds’ financial statements
  • Preparing monthly reports, including analysis of fund MER and illiquid securities
  • Supporting the Private Investment Valuation Committee with valuation and accounting for private investments while maintaining a repository of relevant documents
  • Assisting with the review and preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS reporting standards
  • Preparing investment tax slip reconciliations for private investments
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure streamlined processes and workflows
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements and solutions to operational challenges
  • Managing and executing ad-hoc projects as needed

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of fund accounting/ administration experience within financial services
  • Experience in fund accounting at investment management firms is a strong asset
  • A CPA designation or active progress toward obtaining one is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for accuracy and detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining a high standard of work
