Position: Security Guard
Site: Formet Industries
City: St Thomas, Ontario
Status: Full Time
Hours: Monday – Friday 2330-0730hr
Pay Rate: $18.56/hr

• Date: February 12, 2025
• Internal Closing Date: February 19, 2025
• External Closing Date: March 12, 2025
• Overtime Method: Employment Standards - calculating after 88 hours bi-weekly

The facility adheres to US Homeland Security CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program access control including inbound and outbound shipments, visitors and contractors. The guard will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions inspecting and logging truck traffic and completing patrols.

Experience with CTPAT would be an asset. Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service along with good computer abilities are all core requirements.

• CTPAT Procedures
• Weigh Scale Operation
• Covid Screening
• Access Control
• Monitor Security Systems
• Conduct Security Patrols
• Respond to Emergency Situations

Requirements:

• Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act
• Able to maintain a professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances and people under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service along with good computer abilities are all core requirements
• Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clear, concise and legible reports
• Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
• Patrol assigned area on foot, as assigned, to ensure personal, building and equipment security
• Watch for and report irregularities by completing investigations and incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire and/or ambulance personnel, as required
• Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services by enforcing rules and regulations when required
• Offer support to any person in need such as providing good customer service when providing a security presence, such as providing direction, responding to emergency situations involving violent individuals and injuries
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

At the time of the interview applicant must be able to produce proof of completion of the following prerequisites:

• A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
• Vulnerable Sector Check

Certification Requirements (Any):

• Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
• Valid Ontario Security License
