The Opportunity:
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician (HACCP) reports to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor. This position is responsible for managing day to day tasks associated with plant HACCP program and other food safety programs within the department.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Performs daily record reviews, verifications and data entry of results.
- Performs scheduled monitoring and verifications required for HACCP, third party audits, and customer requirements.
- Training on GMPs and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain an on-floor presence to ensure requirements are being met.
- Follows up on corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Responsible for maintaining thorough knowledge of all food safety and regulatory programs in order to act as a liaison between FSQA and other departments as a subject matter expert.
- Assists Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor with plant issues, program changes/improvements, etc.
- Assists Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor with the creation of training programs to improve food safety understanding in the plant; administer and maintain training programs.
- Assists HACCP Specialist in managing HACCP forms to ensure current versions are in use and obsolete documents are removed from the system.
- Assisting in Six Sigma projects as required.
- Prevents the ongoing production of non-compliant product when non-conformities are observed or identified.
- Controls any non-compliant product that has been produced, performs a food safety assessment and determine appropriate method of disposal.
- Responsible as support for the HACCP Specialist.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You’ll Bring:
- Computer literacy with an understanding of MS Office programs – MS Word, Excel etc.
- Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program, understanding of HACCP and Food safety or equivalent experience in the fresh pork industry will be a definite asset.
- Effective time management, organizational and communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
- Good comprehension and the ability to understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- The ability to demonstrate attention to detail and ability to function in a fast paced environment.
- The ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal, and team building skills.
- Strong leadership will be considered a definite asset.
