Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide support to Food Centre Manager, the Fresh Food Quality Assurance Technician monitors and inspects the finished products, materials, equipment, and product facility to comply with 7-Eleven Policy, QA programs and specifications, to excel customer expectations ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform standard physical and organoleptic evaluations on product including but not limited to weights, dimensions, temperature, texture, color, viscosity and sensory attributes. Interpret results.
  2. Support Food Center Manager by preparing products for deeper analysis/investigation, reviews and product presentations to executives, and supply partners.
  3. Conduct sensory panels by preparing samples and assisting with tabulation of results and reporting.
  4. Manage specific portions of assigned projects including quality and process improvement. This includes nutritional information (Genesis Software).
  5. Monitor and implement GMPs, HACCP plans, Pre-requisite program.
  6. Assist the Food Center Manager in developing and maintaining the GFSI standards.
  7. Training the production team for GMP's, SSOP’s and SOP’s as required.
  8. Conduct and lead HACCP plans for the Food Center.
  9. Develop all forms and procedures as required and maintain the HACCP Registry.
  10. Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and as required verifications for each program.
  11. Calibration of equipment as required.
  12. Assist the Food Center Manager in internal & external plant audits as required.
  13. Knowledge of Recalls and ability to conduct mock recalls independently.
  14. Collect and review shelf-life/ lab results and trend analysis of EMP.
  15. Ability to verify and file all required HACCP documents daily.
  16. Perform Sanitation and pre-operation audits as required.
  17. Ability to hold non-compliant product and make decision independently as required.
  18. All other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors/4 Yr Degree Experience: 2 years, BS in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or Nutrition.
  2. Valid HACCP Certificate.
  3. Knowledge of GFSI Schemes- GFSI Scheme Practitioner.
  4. Basic laboratory experience including physical and organoleptic testing.
  5. Knowledge of lab procedures and interpretation of results, product development and quality assurance.
  6. Experience in conducting sensory panels, physical and organoleptic analyses of food as well as written summaries of results with recommendations/conclusions.
  7. Experience managing outside vendors for quality issues.
  8. Good leadership, interpersonal skills and self-direction.
