Position Overview

The Francophone Health Coordinator plays a vital role in promoting and facilitating the development and implementation of French-language health services across the Winnipeg Health Region. Reporting to the Francophone Health Executive Lead, this position ensures that healthcare services are safe, accessible, and provided in the official language of the patient’s choice. The role also upholds the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion while ensuring compliance with French Language Services (FLS) policies and relevant regional and provincial regulations.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years professional and/or management experience in community health services, a healthcare facility or a private/public organization in a related area required.
  • Experience in coordinating French Language Services would be an asset.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of policy agendas would be an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Consistent with the French Language Services Policy of the Government of Manitoba and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's French Language Services Policy, the WRHA is committed to offer services in French and English in designated program/service areas serving francophone communities in Winnipeg. THIS POSITION HAS BEEN DESIGNATED BILINGUAL.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Post-Secondary education, preferably a Baccalaureate in a related discipline, required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • A valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for travel within the Health region.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have excellent oral and written command of English at a pre-determined professional linguistic level without computer aided tools.
  • Must have excellent oral and written command of French at a pre-determined professional linguistic level.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with the Franco-Manitoban community’s healthcare needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other healthcare professionals and senior management.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to be creative and innovative.
  • Knowledge of web development (Word Press) is an asset.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with hiring managers, human resources, and senior leadership to ensure adherence to recruitment policies and reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute outreach activities aimed at promoting the role of FLS, providing public education, supporting WRHA priorities, and highlighting job opportunities within the region.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
