Our valued client is seeking a Senior Special Advisor to provide leadership and expertise in managing security requirements for federal government and defense contracts!

Initial 1-year contract, 100% Remote. Part-time, expected effort of 5-10 hours per week. Occasional meetings during daytime hours.

As the successful candidate, you will take ownership of reviewing security clearance requirements for various government contracts, interpreting Security Requirements Check List (SRCL) documents, and ensuring compliance with the Contract Security Program (CSP) and Controlled Goods Program (CGP). This role requires strong knowledge of personnel security screening, facility security clearances, and compliance processes. You will be responsible for processing security clearances, ensuring the organization meets all federal security obligations, and maintaining proper documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the security compliance process for federal government contracts, ensuring adherence to the Industrial Security Program (ISP) and related regulations.
  • Review and interpret Security Requirements Check List (SRCL) to determine necessary security measures.
  • Process and manage personnel security clearances, including Reliability Status, Secret, and Top Secret.
  • Oversee Controlled Goods Program (CGP) registration and compliance, ensuring proper handling of sensitive materials.
  • Coordinate and maintain Facility Security Clearances (FSC) and compliance documentation.
  • Liaise with Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD), and other government agencies on security matters.
  • Ensure the company follows best practices for document control, access management, and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Train and educate employees on security policies, procedures, and clearance requirements.
  • Prepare for and participate in government security audits and inspections.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience working in security compliance or contract security administration.
  • Strong understanding of Government of Canada’s Contract Security Program (CSP) and Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
  • Experience processing personnel security clearances at Reliability, Secret, and Top Secret levels.
  • Familiarity with Security Requirements Check List (SRCL) documentation and its implementation.
  • Knowledge of Facility Security Clearances (FSC) and organization-wide security compliance.
  • Ability to liaise with federal agencies and ensure compliance with Industrial Security Program (ISP) requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate security documentation.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Previous experience as a CSO or ACSO in a government contracting environment.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity policies and IT security compliance.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Certifications in security management (e.g., Certified Industrial Security Professional - ISP Certification).
  • Knowledge of international security compliance frameworks (e.g., ITAR, CMMC).
