Forklift operator

The Forklift Operator is responsible for receiving, storing, and transporting raw materials, packaging materials, supplies, and finished goods to ensure they are available in time for production or shipping. The Forklift Operator may also perform stock count and stock control activities, supporting adequate inventory and stock management.
The position is located in a warehouse of an OpCo, responsible for receipt, storage, transportation, and dispensing of materials.
The Forklift Operator operates a manually controlled, rider-type powered truck with forks or other lifting devices (e.g., clamps, barrel lifters) to transport materials around a warehouse or plant. The materials to be moved, the location, and destination are clearly indicated. The Forklift Operator may perform routine equipment servicing, such as attaching battery chargers, replenishing fuel, and checking for safety of equipment and operations.

Job Description:

1. Receiving, handling, and controlling raw materials and goods supplied, ensuring deliveries match the purchase order and shipping documents, and are in good condition.
2. To do this, the Forklift Operator:
1. Checks receipts for appearance based on lading and packing slip, reporting defects to the supervisor.
2. Marks lading and records receipt and quality data in the system.
3. Storage:
1. Stores raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, and pallets by a forklift truck in prescribed storage locations, ensuring safety requirements are met.
2. Conducts inventory counts, periodically comparing actual stock with the administrative inventory, detecting and reporting deviations.
4. Transportation of materials:
1. Transports raw materials, packaging materials, supplies, finished products, and waste materials to and from production departments based on production planning, ensuring timely delivery to prevent stagnation.
5. Operational support / Operator activities:
1. May perform various manual operational activities and/or operate basic machinery/tools.
2. May perform basic checks and controls on materials, such as checking weights and sizes, and signal deviations to the supervisor.
6. Other activities as required:
1. Performs user maintenance on rolling stock.
2. Performs other duties as required.
7. Good housekeeping / Compliance:
1. Keeps rolling stock and other equipment, the workplace, and environment clean and tidy.
2. Cleans all equipment and work environment.
3. Performs all activities in compliance with relevant HSE and quality standards, both internal and external.
8. Communication:
1. Reports defects, deviations, and other non-compliance issues to the supervisor.
2. Discusses work with colleagues and supervisor.
3. Provides information when asked, following up on instructions and guidance from colleagues and supervisor.
9. Compliance:
1. Works in compliance with all applicable SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality) requirements and regulations, as well as operational and legal safety regulations and procedures.
2. Signals potential hazardous and/or unsafe situations, taking appropriate action in case of imminent unsafe situations.
