This individual will be responsible for off-loading and on-loading all goods from containers using a propane SDCB forklift. The operator will spend approximately 80% of their shift operating the forklift, requiring quick yet safe maneuvering in tight quarters. The product varies in shape and weight, necessitating experience with heavy and oddly shaped freight. Responsibilities include using paper shipping documents to ensure accurate loading/unloading, with a transition to complex digital shipping software in the coming months. The facility is open but necessitates navigating tight corners and handling shipments of varying sizes.
This is a fast-paced environment with a 24-hour operation depending on the arrival and departure of trucks. The workplace is very busy with incoming and outgoing trucks and drivers, and forklifts move at a safe but fast pace. Products are staged on the dock, which has more than 50 doors, and include a variety of items from fridges to tires. The culture is fast-paced, with a team of approximately 50 operators working per shift. Steel-toe boots are required, and there is an option to bring your own or use one on-site. The shift runs from Monday to Friday, 4 am to 12:30 pm.
