Your Opportunity:
Under the general supervision of a Supervisor, you will be responsible to use strong customer service, teamwork, and organizational skills to prepare, handle, portion and package food, beverages, assemble trays. Provide patient meal delivery and pick up. Order and put away unit supplies. Safely operate and clean industrial food service equipment, adhere to safety, sanitation, and food preparation standards in accordance with AHS policies and guidelines. Complete other food service duties as assigned. Our environment is fast paced and requires speed and accuracy; must be able to work under pressure in high stress situations; demonstrate critical thinking skills; communicate effectively in English with customers, patients, co-workers, and other departments; work as an effective, professional team member with a focus on exceptional patient and family centered care. Perform basic math functions to measure out food portions. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Food Safe certificate or equivalent. Experience in operating a computer (Microsoft Office programs or other computer programs).
Preferred Qualifications:
Food service experience. Customer service experience. Experience in inventory management; receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates & minimizing waste, utilizing First In, First Out. Experience in a hospital or long term care environment. Experience with Industrial Food Service Equipment. WHIMIS training.
