The Food Server Assistant (Busser) is responsible primarily for assisting the Food Servers in serving the guest as well as seating customers.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Receive and accurately process guest orders for in-room dining.
  2. Prepare and present in-room dining orders according to established standards.
  3. Ensure timely and courteous delivery of food and beverages to guest rooms.
  4. Set up and arrange in-room dining setups, including table settings and presentation.
  5. Provide detailed information about menu items, specials, and promotions to guests.
  6. Respond to guest inquiries and address any special requests or dietary restrictions.
  7. Collaborate with the Kitchen staff and restaurant servers to coordinate and prioritize orders.
  8. Process guest payments and accurately record charges.
  9. Report any guest concerns or issues promptly to the F&B Manager or Kitchen Leadership.
  10. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of in-room dining equipment and service areas.
  11. Maintain accurate records of in-room dining orders, including special requests and feedback.
  12. Follow and ensure adherence to safety procedures and practices within the Food & Beverage Division.
  13. Collaborate with the F&B Leadership to manage revenue and expenses.
  14. Collaborate with Kitchen staff, F&B Staff, and Front Office teams.
  15. Work closely with the cooks and servers to address guest needs and concerns.
  16. Implement and maintain sustainable and environmentally responsible practices within in-room dining.
  17. Collaborate with the F&B Leadership to optimize the guest experience and revenue generation.
  18. Participate in regular meetings to align in-room dining activities with operational needs.
  19. Work in a supportive and flexible manner with other employees and other departments.
  20. Treat all operating equipment and supplies carefully to minimize damage and reduce wastage.
  21. Complete assigned side work.
  22. Perform any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Other Duties:

  1. Report for duty punctually wearing the prescribed uniform standards and name tag.
  2. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and food safety hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department grooming standards.
  3. Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and all other departments.
  4. Read the hotel’s Employee Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel’s rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
  5. Comply with Ontario and Ottawa legislation.
  6. Respond to any changes in the department as dictated by the needs of the hotel.
  7. Be flexible in your job function and perform any other reasonable duties and responsibilities which may be assigned to you, including redeployment to other departments/areas if required, in order to meet business demands and guest service needs.
  8. Attend training sessions and meetings as and when required.
  9. Perform any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by F&B leadership.

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

  • Hours: Flexible and long shifts; scheduled days and times may vary based on need. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment and to multitask efficiently.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; bend; walk; use hands or fingers; or feel objects, tools or controls; lift boxes (up to 50 lbs); talk and hear. Medium work - Exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or 50 lbs of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
