Key programs include the Seniors Meal Box Kit and Meal Program to address senior food insecurity, the Canadian Food Expo for community and cultural tourism, and the Saffron Store Front, which sells products from women entrepreneurs and offers training programs for newcomers and women. Our mandate is to foster economic independence and community development through food and culture.

Job Summary:

The Food Program Supervisor at Saffron Hub is responsible for overseeing the operations of food and beverage services, including planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating various programs aimed at promoting women food entrepreneurs. This role involves managing staff, ensuring food safety, developing new markets, and maintaining excellent customer relations.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and evaluate daily operations of food program services including the Saffron Store Front;
  2. Develop and implement service offerings and operational procedures for our food programs to enhance efficiency;
  3. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, maintaining high levels of food safety and hygiene at the store front and external business events;
  4. Recruit, hire, schedule, supervise and train staff, including interns and students;
  5. Assist management with implementing promotional strategies, which include identifying and engaging with potential clients through networking and social media marketing strategies;
  6. Assist with implementing and supervising marketing and advertising campaigns to attract vendors and clients;
  7. Create and assist with delivering sales presentations to potential clients, business partners and vendors;
  8. Collaborate with female food entrepreneurs, vendors, clients, and the internal teams to achieve targets;
  9. Address and resolve customer complaints to maintain high satisfaction levels;
  10. Negotiate and manage supplier agreements for food and other supplies;
  11. Negotiate contracts with vendors and handle client issues effectively;
  12. Coordinate with vendors for the store front and industry events, such as the Canadian Food Expo;
  13. Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are upheld during events and in the store front;
  14. Place orders with suppliers and manage inventory records;
  15. Monitor sales performance and adjust inventory management strategies accordingly;
  16. Other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Completion of secondary school is required;
  2. Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma is required, with preference given to a program in hospitality, food and beverage service management, or a related field;
  3. At least one (1) year of supervisory or managerial experience is required;
  4. Prior work experience in the food service or related industry is strongly preferred;
  5. Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
