About the BCLDB: The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores. The LDB is committed to government's goals of making life better for people in B.C., improving services, and ensuring a sustainable province for future generations. The revenue generated by the LDB helps fund essential public services like health care, education, and community programming.

About this role: The Senior Financial Analyst provides financial advice, guidance, recommendations and reports in support of Wholesale division operations. The Senior Financial Analyst also leads the budget development process for the division, develops and implements performance reporting methods and reporting, and contributes to sales forecasting. They work in a team environment to ensure that Wholesale division managers have the information they need to achieve operational targets. The Senior Financial Analyst is relied upon to apply financial knowledge and analytical skills to prepare budgets, complete analytical assignments, and design performance metric reports. The work requires a strong client service orientation, superior analytical skills and business acumen.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

• Must hold a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) and is a member in good standing. Note: Indicate the year of admission into the CPA membership. If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.
• A minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience.

*Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last 7 years and must include the following:

• Providing budgeting and reporting services, e.g., preparing business cases, developing budgets, forecasting, performance reports and variance analysis.

Preference may be given to those candidates with the following:

• Providing financial advice, e.g., providing analysis, evaluation and recommendations on KPI's, process improvement initiatives and decision support for business units' operations.
• Experience with financial analysis tools (e.g., excel, business intelligence tools, reports designers, data visualization), and experience building financial models, dashboards and reports.
• Experience in the beverage alcohol industry, supply chain/logistics or wholesale/retail distribution environment.
• Experience analyzing business performance in complex business environments, e.g., operating with large amount of data, multiple product lines, business units, cost centres, ERP systems and applications.
