Location: Etobicoke, ON

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the scheduling of fleet maintenance repairs to ensure maximum fleet availability. This position contributes to the overall efficiency and productivity of our ready-mix operations through effective preventative and reparative maintenance programs. This individual will report to the Mobile Equipment Fleet Superintendent.

Job Responsibilities:

Ensure Environmental and Health & Safety standards are met by:

  • Promoting and supporting company programs, policies and practices; ensuring regulatory compliance is maintained; conducting workplace inspections, incident investigation, safe work training; providing supporting documentation and reporting as required.
  • Assisting in maintaining a safe and clean work environment in all garages.
  • Ensuring all fleet vehicles are in a safe road worthiness manner.

Co-ordinate and monitor:

  • Preventative maintenance, major repairs, daily running repair issues and maintain the availability by scheduling repairs in accordance with established budget and production demands.
  • Monitoring the work activities of all garage personnel by daily communication and on-site visits when required.
  • Ensuring that garages with day and afternoon shifts have sufficient work.
  • Maintaining Garage staff (salary and hourly) performance objectives by providing direction, support and disciplining employees; answering grievances, planning, monitoring and appraising performance objectives.

Comply with Federal, Provincial and Local Legal requirements by:

  • Studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Ensuring proper administration/interpretation of Collective Bargaining Agreements by having a clear understanding of the collective agreements and promoting positive working conditions and team spirit within the plant; addressing grievances.

Contribute to Team Effort by:

  • Accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Daily communication with central dispatch to ensure fleet equipment is available to handle workload.
  • Providing coverage for other supervisors as required.
  • Any other jobs requested by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience in relevant field, required + 10+ years of fleet maintenance experience.
  • 310 T Truck and Coach Technician license is an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively build relationships with hourly employees, peers, support staff and key customers.
  • Safety-oriented mindset with sound knowledge of OH&S policies, procedures & regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working within a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and planning skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite, (MS Excel is mandatory).
  • Valid ‘G’ license.
