Fleet and Facilities Manager

Monday-Friday (8:00 am-4:30 pm)

Duties

Thorhild County Infrastructure Department is seeking a suitable individual to carry out the following duties under the direction and supervision of the Director of Infrastructure:

Fleet

  1. Responsible for the management of preventative maintenance schedules.
  2. Develop long-term capital equipment replacement program.
  3. Responsible for the analysis of equipment operation using key performance metrics.
  4. Responsible for equipment tenders.
  5. Must assist in the performance of work, when required.

Facilities

  1. Develop and maintain facility management program (two waste transfer stations and residential curbside program).
  2. Responsible for facility repair estimates.
  3. Manage waste collection and recycling programs.

General

  1. Budget preparation for fleet services, facility maintenance, waste transfer stations, and residential curbside collection.
  2. Responsible for policy and procedure development and implementation.
  3. Participate in management meetings and conduct department meetings.

Qualifications Required

  1. Extensive knowledge in the operation and purchase of equipment.
  2. Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate preferred.
  3. Experience in the management of facilities and waste management is considered an asset.
  4. Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  5. Experience in inventory management, tendering and procurement is an asset, and/or minimum of ten years experience.
  6. Standard First Aid or willing to obtain.
  7. Physical ability and dexterity to perform a variety of manual tasks (heavy lifting, squatting, bending, twisting and climbing). Work is performed with exposure to the outdoor elements.
  8. Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  9. Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing are essential.
  10. Successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Records Check, Driver’s Abstract and Fitness to Work Assessment.

Thorhild County offers a comprehensive benefit program. Salary for this position will be determined by the candidate’s education and experience. Hourly pay range is $52.19-$66.51. Current employees of Thorhild County fulfilling the requirements essential to this position shall be considered.
