Hourly rate: $38.87 – Fully Qualified (starts at Learner 1: $33.03/hr; Learner 2: $34.98/hr; Learner 3: $36.92). Progression based on merit, not hours.

We have an opportunity for you to join our production team as a Fitter at our Cambridge, Ontario facility.

Primary Function:

To perform all types of fitting operations on Company products, such as steam generating internals, pressure boundary shells, primary heads, tube sheets, and dry storage container components.

Tasks:

  1. Set up jigs and holding devices as required; position, fit, and assemble materials according to drawings, prints, jigs, and/or layouts; cut and fit templates and gaskets as necessary. Check for work accuracy and cleanliness as required.
  2. Read and interpret Work Orders, Drawings, Shop Instruction Sheets (SIS), Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS); plan and organize the fitting process; identify and verify work piece material.
  3. Install robotic tube hole cleaning equipment and support robotic technical personnel as required.
  4. Select, use, and operate measuring and checking equipment.
  5. Select and use layout tools; establish layout lines from existing datum points; manufacture a template.
  6. Identify, select, and set oxy-acetylene or natural gas pressure settings and cutting tips; pre-heat the work piece; use oxy-acetylene or natural gas, radiograph, plasma-arc, power cut-off saw, and carbon-arc to cut work piece.
  7. Perform studding, arc air, non-pressure welding, and component tacking while fitting.
  8. Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of boilers and pressure vessels.
  9. Set up and position pre-heating equipment.
  10. Sling/transport, and/or position material and equipment to and from work area manually by hooking for overhead crane or by using floor-operated overhead crane or forklift; set up jigs and holding devices in work area as required. Perform simple uncomplicated lifts safely to maintain own production requirements.
  11. Work in a safe manner and demonstrate good workmanship and practices.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven commitment to workplace safety.
  2. Commitment to quality and the ability to work as a positive, effective team member, willing to go the extra mile to ensure we meet our customer expectations.
  3. Previous fitting experience, ideally in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  4. Successful completion of a welder program.
  5. Intermediate understanding of blueprint reading.
  6. Ability to read and understand/interpret drawings, specifications, operating procedures, work orders, etc.
  7. Availability to work all shifts:
  • Weekday days: 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Mon – Thurs)
  • Weekday afternoons: 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. (Mon – Thurs)
  • Weekend days: 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours)
  • Weekend afternoons: 5:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. (Fri, Sat, Sun; paid for 40 hours)
