Finishing Painter

At Merit Kitchens, the Finisher will be responsible for ensuring that all parts are sprayed to a consistently high quality in a fast-paced manufacturing atmosphere. Responsibilities will include the identification and discarding of defective products, performing all work in a safe manner, cleaning and maintaining painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air, and personal protective equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Select appropriate paint or mix paints using paint mixing equipment according to a pre-determined formula.
2. Operate hand-held spray guns to spray paint or coat large items with protective or decorative coatings.
3. Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air, and personal protective equipment.
4. Mark, record, and report defects.
5. Clean and perform preparation of worksite.
6. Signal equipment and line operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
7. Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices when working in confined spaces and/or hazardous environments.
8. Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.

Qualifications:

1. Proven experience as a finishing painter, preferably in cabinet or furniture manufacturing.
2. Knowledge of various painting techniques and materials.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Familiarity with safety procedures and equipment.
5. High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certification is a plus.
6. On-time and reliable.
7. Able to lift 50 pounds and stand, walk, bend, etc. for 8 hours a day.
8. Effective English reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
9. Time management, prioritization skills, and attention to detail.
