Title: Finisher

Reports To: Manufacturing Team Leader

Location: 24 Napoleon Road - Barrie, Ontario

Shift: Nights, 11:00pm to 7:00am, Sunday to Thursday

Wage: $22.75/hr.

Job Purpose: To safely finish and/or assemble required quantity and quality of product by painting, metal finishing, or silk screening in a timely and efficient manner, and in accordance with plant and company specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Read and interpret work instructions, engineering criteria and/or prints of assemblies.
  2. Set-up and operate powered and manual equipment to OHSA/Company safety standards.
  3. Complete work orders filling in the time spent and the quantity of parts completed.
  4. Fill out daily reporting sheets.
  5. Painting: Spray painting a wide variety of products while maintaining compliance with quality standards.
  6. Painting: Prepare and clean surfaces prior to painting. Check paint viscosity and film thickness. Fill paint pressure pots. Dispense paint and paint thinner as required.
  7. Metal Finishing: Responsible for grinding, sanding and polishing product made of metal. Uses hand tools and power tools to ensure a smooth finish.
  8. Metal Finishing: Deburr, buff or polish materials to QA approved specifications.
  9. Silk Screening: Silk screening a variety of products while maintaining compliance with quality and ISO standards.
  10. Silk Screening: Match raw material to work order. Peel protective coating from parts, while checking for scratches, dents or malformations, in accordance to Company quality standards.
  11. Silk Screening: Mix ink products for dispensing. Set up silk screen table with correct template and screen. Run oven at correct temperatures for screening parts.
  12. Silk Screening: Complete first offs, and check quality in accordance to Company quality standards.
  13. Maintain WHMIS labels - ensuring they are readable.
  14. Dispose of chemicals safely and in accordance with company standards.
  15. Regular maintenance, cleaning and simple troubleshooting of spray or finishing equipment. Replace booth filters (follow PM schedule).
  16. Rotate between paint booth, finishing station and assembly positions as necessary.
  17. Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to Manufacturing Supervisor or team lead.
  18. Red tag scrap and record.
  19. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance to 5S principles. Maintain all equipment requiring maintenance according to maintenance guidelines and established procedures.
  20. Continue to grow Lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement to product and processes.
Education & Experience

  1. High School or GED, or 2 - 5 years relevant manufacturing experience.
  2. Minimum 1 year previous spray paint, silk screening experience required, or 1 year metal finishing experience.
  3. Basic computer skills an asset.
  4. Able to work from verbal and/or written instructions with minimal supervision.
  5. Good hand-eye coordination required.
  6. Able to work in a fast-paced sheet metal environment.
  7. Eye for detail. High level of concentration and focus required.
  8. Good dexterity and some lifting (up to 40 pounds).
  9. Must be clean shaven every day in order to wear respirator.
