Reporting to the CFO, your duties and responsibilities will include;
Accounting Oversight:
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage the year-end audit process, coordinating with external auditors and preparing all necessary documentation.
- Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and achievable budgets.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly forecasts, analyzing variances between actual results and budget/forecast figures.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
Payroll Management:
- Oversee the payroll function, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with all payroll-related regulations, including tax filings and benefit deductions.
- Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3 accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, setting clear goals and providing constructive feedback.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including GAAP and local tax laws.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing best practices in risk management and internal controls.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and ensure the company remains compliant.
System Improvements:
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead or support the implementation of new financial software or tools as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in ERP, ideally Sage Intact, and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a small team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
