Business Analyst

We are currently seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our team serving clients in REMOTE, Victoria, British Columbia (CA-BC) or REMOTE, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (CA). This role can be remote or hybrid and is expected to work in the PST time zone.
As a Business Analyst, you will work directly with stakeholders to elicit current state and future state business processes to drive identification of process improvements in IT Systems. You will use your technical skills and knowledge of IT Systems and processes to maximize efficiencies and functionality for your business stakeholders.

In this role the Business Analyst is critical to the process that drives the end-to-end definition of business requirements related to a new or existing event or process. This may include redesigning existing processes that support continuous improvements in service, support, and performance measures. Finally, your guidance will help less experienced developers grow in their development skills resulting in an overall better team.
Once You Are Here, You Will:
- Plan for and Facilitate Workshops
- Prepare for and facilitate the discovery of business / functional requirements
- Conduct stakeholder interviews
- Conduct presentations
- Define, Analyze and Manage Business Needs, Requirements and User Stories
- Identify and document business objectives, goals, and success criteria to support the formation of new projects and develop roadmaps to achieve operational success.
- Manage requirements and backlog, support prioritization, identify and escalate scope creep
- Analyze business processes to identify bottlenecks, low-value activities, and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform gap analyses and identify impacts to people, process, and tools.
- Develop manageable and executable user stories with acceptance criteria
- Understand KPIs and how to measure to achieve them
- Perform Options Analyses to choose the best solution for the client
- Create and Review Business and Technical Documentation and Models
- Document business / functional requirements and specifications
- Review existing system documentation, business process models, rules and logic
- Develop business analysis plans and provide input into the overall project plan
- Document business processes and system workflows
- Determine user requirements for systems in production to ensure maximum usability
- Write use cases and draw use case diagrams
- Collaborate with Business and Technical Teams
- Work with clients to assess current systems and evaluate fit for the objectives.
- Provide support to implementation, release management, and migration tasks
- Partner with business stakeholders including team members, managers, and executives
- Partner with stakeholders to develop business cases for new IT initiatives
- Testing
- Create and execute functional test cases and test scripts
- Test new processes, systems, and operations.
- Support User Acceptance Testing phase
- Training
- Provide support and train users on the new tools, processes and systems.
- Write user guides
- Project and Team Management
- Provide regular status updates
- Create and implement precise management plans for every project, with attention to transparent communication at all levels
- Participate in all agile ceremonies
- Collaborate with other business analysts on the team
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst
- Experience with implementing finance and accounting systems in medium to large organizations is a must
- Experience with a variety of software applications, technologies
- Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical jargon for the business user
- Passionate about making technology work for the business
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly, facilitate and present confidently to an audience
- Demonstrated leadership and attention to detail skills through prior experience at the strategic and tactical / implementation levels
- Ability to understand and apply common, object-oriented modeling techniques, including UML, use case, activity and sequence diagrams
- Experience with planning business analysis activities
- Experience navigating and working through challenging situations
- Flexible experience in delivering projects following either waterfall and agile methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science
- Strong working knowledge of relevant Microsoft applications, including Visio and Project
- High proficiency in technical writing
- Business Analysis experience in one or more of the following:
- Modernizing applications, Software implementation
- Industry experience in Healthcare, Finance or Public Sector
