Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Financial Officer, the incumbent is responsible for processing financial and payroll related documentation for all employee groups and departments at New College. This critical role supports the Business Services Office in setting up, updating and maintaining FIS and HRIS information, and investigates and corrects any financial discrepancies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Acting as the first point of contact for payroll related enquiries
  2. Preparing payroll records for processing
  3. Troubleshooting and resolving payroll discrepancies
  4. Verifying the accuracy and completeness of documents
  5. Applying the generally accepted accounting principles to all financial tasks
  6. Preparing accounts payable according to the University Guide to Financial Management
  7. Preparing and/or processing journal entries
  8. Preparing expense reimbursements

Essential Qualifications:
  1. Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum three (3) years of recent and related financial and payroll experience in a university or similar environment.
  3. Demonstrated experience with U of T's Administrative Management System (e.g. FIS and HRIS), or equivalent systems.
  4. Experience maintaining and organizing administrative, financial and HR records.
  5. Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures (e.g. financial policies/procedures, collective agreements).
  6. Experience in effectively and clearly communicating financial information to university staff and faculty.
  7. Advanced skills in SAP (specifically FIS and HRIS), or similar systems is required.
  8. Demonstrated advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  9. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  10. Knowledge of the University’s financial procedures and guidelines, or other similar procedures and strong understanding of payroll rules and processes including CRA rules and requirements.
