- Financial Analyst (16): $71,063 to $94,752 plus a performance-based incentive

Position Overview:As a Financial Analyst at FinDev Canada, you will play a key role in analyzing financial results and providing valuable insights to support our strategic goals. You'll leverage your accounting expertise to develop and enhance reports, ensuring accurate and timely financial information. What you'll be doing:Role Overview:- Engage in Impactful Accounting: Perform essential accounting activities for administrative expenses, ensuring financial records and reports comply with IFRS and company policies.
- Policy Consistency: Guarantee the consistent application of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement policies across the corporation.
- Financial Support: Provide critical financial support through accurate forecasting, budgeting, and analysis of budget variations.
- Insightful and Critical Analysis: Deliver valuable insights to both financial and non-financial stakeholders through comprehensive variance analysis, forecasting, and long-range planning. Analyze business unit results critically to meet financial reporting requirements and challenge assumptions as needed.
- Data Mastery and Enhancement: Work with large and complex data sets to conduct detailed financial analysis and modeling, aiding business unit decision-making and corporate planning. Identify opportunities to improve data usability and understandability.
- Clear Communication: Prepare clear and impactful communications and presentations for senior leadership on topics such as budget-to-actual variance analysis, trend and scenario analysis, and driver-based modeling. Explain complex issues clearly, using tact and diplomacy to persuade and inform others.
- Collaborative Efforts: Partner with the parent company on consolidation and cost-sharing activities, ensuring seamless financial operations.
- Versatile Contributions: Embrace additional responsibilities beyond core duties to drive the corporation's success and growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Transaction Management: Prepare, analyze, and report accounting transactions, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
- Policy Compliance: Lead or support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement tasks, collaborating with experts to ensure adherence to policies.
- Reporting Excellence: Prepare key sections of management discussion and analysis disclosures on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all reports and disclosures comply with government regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
- Safeguarding Assets: Establish and maintain accounting policies, fiscal controls, and complex financial reports to protect the organization's assets.
- Strategic Reporting: Create and maintain management reporting dashboards to provide forward-looking financial information.
- Internal Controls: Provide advice on internal control issues and implement reporting enhancements.
- Project Participation: Participate in system implementation or enhancement projects, consulting on and implementing reporting requirements.
- Standards Research: Research and interpret new accounting standards to assess their impact on financial reporting and accounting activities.
What we are looking for:Must haves:- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Professional Credentials: A professional accounting designation, such as CPA or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Financial Analyst (16): At least 3 years of experience in business, accounting, and/or financial analysis.
- Financial Analyst (17): At least 5 years or more of experience in business, accounting, and/or financial analysis.
- Expertise: Advanced knowledge of IFRS, along with strong principles and practices in accounting and financial analysis.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to prepare and present complex quantitative and qualitative financial analyses clearly and concisely.
- Technical Proficiency: Excellent skills in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with a strong ability to work with complex databases.
- Language Proficiency: Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
Nice to haves:- Forecasting Expertise: Experience with forecasting and budgeting models.
- Cost Management: Proven experience in expense management and costing.
- Audit Experience: Background in auditing financial transactions.
- Consolidation Skills: Experience with consolidation and reporting to parent companies.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Cognos Disclosure Management, PeopleSoft Financials, TM1, and Power BI systems.
- Research and Recommendations: Experience in researching, providing recommendations, and drafting memorandums on accounting standards.
