Financial Analyst

As Financial Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in the Finance Department. You will be accountable for the financial reporting of WorkplaceNL to Senior Management, the Board of Directors, and stakeholders. This role is key for database management, statistical reporting, and data modeling. Ensure financial system testing, controls, and reporting are effective and accurate.

Role Responsibilities

  1. Prepares annual financial statements reporting WorkplaceNL's financial position to all stakeholders.
  2. Working with external audit services to complete audit requirements.
  3. Ensures accurate and timely completion of administration, capital, and project budgets for management and presentation of comparative results including justification and interpretation for presentation to the Board of Directors.
  4. Knowledgeable of accounting standards (IFRS - International Financial Reporting Standards) concerning the reporting and presentation of WorkplaceNL's financial position.
  5. Team player for Oracle quarterly testing for quarterly upgrades.
  6. Analytical thinker for problem-solving multi-system recordings to general ledger.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  1. CPA (Certified Professional Accountant) designation is required, supplemented by 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and analytical work in a computerized accounting environment.
  2. The candidate must have strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills and be able to work independently on multiple demanding deadlines.
  3. The candidate must be proficient in all Microsoft Office products, especially Excel. Knowledge of Oracle would be an asset.

What Success Looks Like in the Role

  1. Ensure all recording, reconciliation, and reporting are completed accurately and timely.
  2. Working with all areas and levels of the organization to ensure budget development and analysis are accurate and presented to the Board of Directors.
  3. Knowledge of statistical reporting, data modeling, and injury fund monitoring (long-term investment portfolio).

Qualifications

Ideal Qualifications

  1. Bachelor of Commerce degree, supplemented by a recognized professional accounting designation and a minimum of five years' related experience in the preparation of financial statements and various statistical analyses.
  2. The successful candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical, oral, and written communication skills and experience with advanced personal computer applications.
  3. Experience and educational equivalency will be considered.
