Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Financial Analyst is responsible for working with departments to compile their annual budgets, reconcile various balance sheet accounts, contribute to various ministry reporting requirements, and analyze and monitor actual performance against budgets while recommending appropriate actions. The financial analyst will also participate in the month-end process and any ad-hoc accounting projects assigned. The financial analyst will be a team player, working collaboratively on-site with others in an open-concept working environment.
Responsibilities:
Assists Manager of Finance and CFO in the preparation of hospitals' annual operating and capital budget
Responsible for assisting in the quarterly reporting requirements
Investigates and documents explanations for variances to ensure appropriate actions are taken
Compiles and analyzes statistics regarding sick/overtime trends, variances, and fluctuations by department
Analyzes general ledger accounts and makes corrections as necessary
Helps in reconciling accounts, providing month-end, year-end, and audit assistance
Assists with other duties and assignments, as required
Qualifications:
3-5 years accounting and financial experience within a computerized accounting environment, preferably within a health care facility
Proficient Microsoft Suite skills including spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all staff, departments, third-party vendors, and visitors
Ability to be resourceful to find answers and solutions to various demands
Conducts ad-hoc projects to include analyzing large volumes of data and communicating findings
Demonstrates excellent organizational and attention to detail skills
Ability to act in a calm, professional manner consistent with the hospital's values
Bilingual, French and English, considered an asset
Education and/or Certification:
Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Business – Required
Completion of professional accounting designation (CPA) or in the process of obtaining – Required
