About the Position:
The Financial Analyst is a newly created role, reporting to the Sr. Financial Analyst, IPP. This role will support the monthly, quarterly, and annual operational and financial reporting cycles.
The incumbent analyst will collaborate with various teams including Accounting, Property Management & Operations to gather, interpret and use complex data, to prepare and automate the financial models and utility KPIs analysis, assist in preparation of reporting packages within tight deadlines, and support special projects and initiatives pertaining to energy consumption and sustainability.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Create, update and maintain, with accuracy, the financial models for Utilities tracking and reporting for the whole portfolio.
- Track and monitor daily meter reading recording in Yardi by property.
- Submit consumption data to providers to ensure actual consumption is captured in monthly billing; maintain the schedule of meter readings submission.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual operational reporting cycles, including quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process.
- Work with the Sr. Analyst to develop operational metrics tracking KPIs performance and monitor the efficiency of special programs.
- Assist the Sr. Analyst in the preparation of the annual package for GRESB and EWRB reporting.
- Provide support to Accounting, Finance and Property Management & Operations building and maintaining working relationships with RMs.
- Ad hoc requests.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to run complex models working with large data sets.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Advanced excel skills and financial modeling skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also be a team player.
- Excellent organization, prioritizing and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ambition and the desire to learn and continue to grow.
- Flexibility, and the ability to manage changing priorities and work within tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, or related field of study.
- 1-3 years of experience in working with large data sets highly preferable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel) and working knowledge of ERP accounting software is a plus.
- Hands on experience in financial modelling.
- Understanding of general accounting rules and principles.
