As a Financial Analyst, you are responsible for reviewing and analyzing monthly financial reports, consulting with and assisting Finance Managers with interpreting their financial results, and assisting with the coordination of quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting within Ontario Health atHome. The incumbent is responsible to improve processes to ensure high quality service and integrity of reporting, forecasting and budgeting.

What will you do?

  • Assist Director and Manager in preparation, planning and monitoring and analysis of annual operating budget.
  • Assist in coordination of overall budget process including timelines and utilization of Financial Reporting Tool.
  • Assist in coordinating monthly/quarterly forecasting process for Ontario Health atHome, including liaising with Finance Managers and utilizing Financial Reporting Tool.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reporting package for review by Manager, Director and VP, Financial Planning and Business Support and for submission to Board.
  • Assist in preparing analysis and reporting of financial and statistical results against financial plan on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis to Board and Senior Management.
  • Provide support in preparing data for Board meetings, collaborate on development and presentation of material.
  • Liaise with other functional areas (such as A/P, A/R, Payroll, Accounting and Reconciliation team and External reporting) to follow up on any issues or changes that need to be made.
  • Open to improvement opportunities for process change to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Review, analyze and interpret monthly financial reports for Finance Managers provincially.
  • Assist in monitoring key financial indicators and perform analysis on variances; identify areas of concern and suggest corrective action needed to ensure that divisional obligations are met.
  • Establish effective relationships with Finance Managers to allow discussion of financial reports and resolution of issues.
  • Assist Finance Managers in reviewing variance analysis of actuals vs budget and support budget and forecast teams in developing forecasts and annual budget both dollars and FTEs.
  • Consult with Finance Managers to identify business factors impacting their budgets, quantify factors and predict impact for the year.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports, including analysis and projections, as required.
  • Participate in regular reviews of services provided to Finance Managers and make recommendations to improve services, ensure adequate internal controls are in place and increase efficiency.
  • Participate in preparation of year-end audit binder and compile working papers/supporting schedules for annual financial audit statements, as required.
  • Document working processes and make recommendations for improvement to senior Finance management; participate in special or ad hoc tasks and projects assigned by senior Finance management.
  • Perform any other duties, as required.

What must you have?

  • Post-secondary education in business - preferably in finance or accounting.
  • Professional Accounting (CPA) designation or enrollment preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in accounting & financial analysis, preferably in health care.
  • Knowledge of governmental/NPO finances and reporting requirements.
  • Appropriate knowledge of accounting, budgeting and forecasting programs and tools.
  • Current knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, processes and standards.
  • Sound knowledge of Ontario Health atHome strategies, objectives, priorities and programs, and related financial priorities and plans.
  • An understanding of the evolving role of Ontario Health atHome, the issues and priorities within the healthcare sector and how these impact financially.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Health atHome administrative practices and procedures an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in developing and supporting detailed analysis through the use of software delivered modeling including MS Excel.
  • An in-depth understanding of Great Plains, Management Reporter tools and MS Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) an asset.
  • Ability to compile and present financial and analytical information in a clear concise manner to management and staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Cultivates effective working relationships with organization Business Leads and management to facilitate variance understanding and improved decision making.

What would give you the edge?

  • Professional Accounting (CPA) designation or enrollment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Health atHome services.
  • Familiarity with the issues and priorities of the health care sector and how these impact business practices financially.
  • Ability to speak French or another second language.
