Introduction

Dovre Group is pleased to offer the following role: Finance Manager in St. John’s, NL.

Function

As part of the management team, you have the opportunity as a financial leader to impact our dynamic and growing organization. Reporting to the Regional Vice President, the North American Director of Finance is responsible for delivering business results through the development and execution of the business strategy in the areas of budget and accounting, financial management, treasury and investments, and knowledge management. This involves establishing and implementing financial strategies, policies and procedures, budgets, and maintaining financial business responsibilities.

  • The Director of Finance will advise and present financial statements, along with other related reports to the Vice President, North America and other management members as required. The successful candidate will have the expertise in financial leadership, use a collaborative approach and have the aptitude and willingness to develop and mentor members of the finance and accounting team to ensure the goals and objectives of the company are met.
  • You will oversee a small accounting team in Canada and the USA, managing payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Compile annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Conduct monthly cash flow analysis and maintain balance sheets.
  • Manage client and vendor contracts.
  • Review and continuously improve financial and contractual processes and procedures.
  • Actively implement improvements and efficiencies.
  • Ensure supporting documentation is established and utilized.
  • Report monthly financial statements to the Regional VP and CFO.
  • Coordinate tax strategies (USA & Canada).
  • Coordinate annual 3rd party financial audits.
  • Provide leadership oversight for implementation of financial systems/upgrades.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have proven strong financial expertise and a business acumen to collaborate and contribute to the continued growth and success.

This position will provide for further leadership opportunities in addition to core roles and responsibilities of Finance Management. As a part of a small management team, you will be expected to help direct the company in various facets including client negotiations, business development, creating partnerships, and identifying acquisitions.

You hold a professional designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), post-secondary education in finance or accounting combined with senior financial leadership experience. A core competency in finance is required, but driven management and leadership qualities are highly valued. This is a senior position but could be suitable for a driven and ambitious mid-career individual.

The position is based in St. John’s, NL but may require occasional travel throughout Canada, the USA, and potentially Europe.
