ABOUT POWER4STL
Power4STL is a community of health working to reduce the impact of trauma in the St. Louis region. This includes three core programs: The T, for people at risk for overdose, the BRIC, for people who have experienced bullet injury; and community engagement, focusing on education and therapeutic efforts to reduce the impact of trauma. Through these programs, Power4STL provides public health education, community engagement, self-care resources, harm reduction, support, and direct clinical care for acute and chronic trauma.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations for Power4STL. This role focuses primarily on budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. The manager will serve as liaison between Power4STL and a third party accounting firm and manage all bookkeeping and banking. The position will also involve handling grant-related financial activities, specifically invoicing and financial reporting for awarded grants.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management:
Oversee the organization’s annual budget and financial planning processes.
Monitor, analyze, and report on the organization’s financial performance, including preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with all internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements.
Manage cash flow and oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
Prepare financial forecasts, variance reports, and recommendations to support decision-making.
Oversee audits and implement recommendations to strengthen financial controls.
Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with best practices and legal requirements.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to support budget monitoring, including ensuring appropriate allocation and use of funds.
Communicate and meet regularly with third parting accounting firm to include 990 preparation.
Grant Reporting:
Handle grant-related financial processes, including invoicing, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
Monitor grant spending to ensure alignment with budgets and program objectives, flagging any discrepancies or potential issues.
Maintain detailed and organized financial records of grants, ensuring they are ready for auditing and reporting requirements.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of grant proposals, awards, financial reports, and correspondence with funders.
Ensure that all grant documents are easily accessible and stored in compliance with organizational and funder requirements.
Monitor and track grant agreements, amendments, and extensions
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. Experience with grants administration, specifically invoicing and financial reporting, is required with specific focus on management of federal grants from agencies such as the DOJ and HRSA. Must have experience managing reporting and accounting for federal grants.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of financial management principles and accounting practices.
Experience with financial software and systems, such as QuickBooks or similar.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills to present financial information clearly and effectively.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of grant management processes, funder requirements, and compliance standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires sitting, typing, frequent encounters with staff, and maintaining a trauma-informed environment.
