Job Purpose

The Finance Business Partner will be responsible for providing financial support to the divisional management team and for driving the financial performance of the business, ensuring finance involvement in the development of the division’s strategic direction. This will require you to provide insight into the business environment and the wider financial context. You will need to identify opportunities that will have a positive impact on value creation for the division.

You will report into and work closely with the Divisional Finance Director to support plans in key operational and strategic areas. This will involve interpreting and driving finance performance, advising on key business planning, trade-offs, and opportunities, and presenting a dynamic industry, competitors, and economic context.

Job Overview

The role

RWS is seeking a Finance Business Partner to support the Enterprise Services Business unit. The position will report to the ES Senior Finance Business Partner located in Montreal, Canada, and be part of the commercial finance team. The team operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, functioning as a proactive business partner to identify, develop and prepare information to assist in managing the business.

The Finance Business Partner will support the ES Senior Finance Business Partner and provide the leadership team with financial data, analysis, and insight to support decision-making and performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

1. Action and support divisional strategy
1. Develop strategic partnership with Divisional Finance Director as a trusted advisor
2. Drive Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) outputs including business plans, project and investment appraisals using divisional data
3. Challenge, highlight and investigate areas of opportunity for strategic recommendations
4. Understand and translate financial information into tangible targets or actions, assessing financial implications of each action
5. Assist in preparing relevant papers for senior level meetings with stakeholders across the business
6. Ensure adherence to accounting principles, internal controls, and applicable legislative and regulatory requirements
2. Provide divisional reporting & analytics
1. Contribute to the development and management of divisional strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts
2. Perform variance analysis on financial performance against divisional plan
3. Leverage business insights, scenario modelling and analysis to develop financial models and drive commercial decision-making and complex problem-solving
4. Experiment with unorthodox approaches and identify emerging themes to drive future value opportunities
5. Create visually compelling stories for executive and leadership presentations
3. Ensure divisional compliance and financial control
1. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and internal policies and procedures
2. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports
3. Ensure a robust control environment within divisional finance, adhering to internal controls and regulatory requirements
4. Support continuous improvement in the Group
1. Identify opportunities to improve existing financial processes
2. Closely follow-up macro-economic developments and assess impacts toward business
3. Focus on increasing analytics capabilities, including new initiatives to analyse data
4. Raise feedback for potential opportunities to optimise and standardise methods and processes
5. Ensure in-scope business partnering processes are documented and stored on the assigned shared location
5. Collaborate with other teams
1. Challenge central functions to provide more efficient and cost-effective services to the business
2. Collaborate with Master Data team for required data points, best practices and standards and data issues
3. Collaborate with Shared Service Centre (SSC) process delivery teams to exchange information, as required, and support process improvement where dependencies may exist

Skills & Experience required

• 1-3 years’ experience in financial analysis/business partnering
• Focused on delivery to deadlines and attention to detail
• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify performance improvements
• Good communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills written and oral communication skills.
• Able to prioritize and manage tasks in a high-pressure environment and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Strong organization and time management skills
• BS in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• Must have advanced Excel skills and be proficient in PowerPoint
• PowerBI knowledge highly desirable
• Experience of Oracle and Workday product suite highly desirable

Location

Montreal and being able to commute to the office downtown (metro Peel) as this is a Hybrid role. 1-2 days in the office per week is required.
