Finance Administrator (Temporary 3-6 Months)

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, BMT Canada is looking for a Finance Administrator to join our finance team for 3-6 months with a possibility of extension to cover a period of absence within the team. In this role, you will work alongside our finance team to provide administrative and accounting support in a hybrid work environment. The responsibilities will vary depending on business needs and will require flexibility, a positive attitude, and an eagerness to learn and assist. Specifically, you will work on:

  1. Maintain an environment of strong internal controls and be part of the team developing policies and procedures.
  2. Prepare accounting documents such as recording of vendor invoices, reconciliation of account statements, and other payable statements.
  3. Enter, verify, and reconcile transactions in accounts payable including invoices, expenses, and preparation of payments.
  4. Manage accounts payable including monitoring of outstanding payables and communication with vendors in a professional manner.
  5. Maintain and post weekly timesheets and expenses.
  6. Respond to Project Manager inquiries on a timely basis.
  7. Review costing information on a monthly basis and required monthly closing procedures.
  8. Review and collect Accounts Receivables to assist with cash management.
  9. Assist with setup and maintain projects in Deltek Vision, including contract amendments.
  10. Assist with monthly invoicing and deliver invoices to clients.
  11. Prepare ad hoc reports on a requirement basis.
  12. In addition to these duties, the role may be required to carry out such other duties as reasonably be required, from time to time, to achieve the above role purpose.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible team member, who possesses the following knowledge, experience, and skills:

  1. University Degree/Community College diploma in accounting or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting.
  3. Experience using an ERP accounting system, specifically accounts payable, time and expenses.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Deltek Vision experience considered an asset.
  7. Familiarity with Government Contracting procedures is preferred.
  8. Security clearance would be an asset.
