We are now hiring a full-time talented Field Service / Shop Technician to join our team based out of Cambridge ON, Canada. This position will require up to 70% travel for up to four (4) weeks at a time.

SUMMARY : To perform up-tower & shop wind turbine repairs and provide technical expertise at customer sites, adding to or preserving the value of customer assets; efficiently executing service orders and ensuring customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Participate in planning for assigned jobs:
- gathering and preparing tools, information, personal protective equipment, parts, and other items required for the successful execution of the service order
- packaging and coordinating with the assigned Planner to ensure all required items are received at the proper time and place
- make transportation and lodging arrangements, notifying the assigned Planner and Field Service Lead for the job
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis prior to every new job.
- Be present at the worksite, prepared and ready to work at the agreed upon time, manage travel delays and communicate changes in travel plans with job Lead. Follow all travel-related policies.
- Perform endoscope inspections, visual inspections, vibration analysis, and similar diagnostic procedures on gearboxes and components on wind turbines at customer sites.
- Repair, remove, and/or install gearboxes and components on wind turbines at customer sites. (e.g. main shafts, pitch tubes, gears, bearings, gearing accessories, brake assemblies, shrink disks, lubrication and filter systems, module sections)
- Provide supplementary services for customers as assigned by job Lead.
- Inspect, properly maintain, and safely operate all personal protective equipment, material handling equipment, vehicles, rigging, and tools prior to and after every use. Follow all equipment procedures and notify job Lead or Field Service Manager immediately of missing, broken, or otherwise inadequate resources.
- Be constantly and fully aware of your surroundings and potential job hazards at all times. Notify Lead or Field Service Manager immediately of safety concerns or potential equipment issues. Stop work immediately if needed to avoid work in unsafe practices. Report all incidents and near misses immediately.
- Complete and submit all job-related documents, reports, and administrative processes in an accurate and timely manner. Be diligent in recording all work performed and parts used.
- Follow all customer and job-specific procedures regarding site check-in, check-out, training, reporting, wrap-up, incident reports, and other similar requirements of working at a site.
- Assist with and support similar responsibilities and tasks in a workshop setting and in the field.
- Safely climb and descend ladders up to 360 feet, work at heights, and observe all safety procedures and practices. Maintain a safe working environment at heights.
- Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing, or using for the benefit of self or third parties; maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 12 or equivalent GED
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Technical competency in gearbox failure analysis and diagnosis, gearbox repair procedures, gearbox installation and removal, component repair and placement, and other similar activities required to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wind turbine.
- Ability to maintain professional communications and boundaries while managing complex situations and interacting with a variety of individuals and personalities.
- Has advanced knowledge of data collection and report writing, is able to effectively analyze and synthesize information and to communicate numeric and technical data accurately and in an easily understood manner.
- Ability to utilize both oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, customers, and other individuals encountered in the course of performing work.
- Advanced computer skills, with the ability to accurately and efficiently manage data in spreadsheets and databases, and to utilize advanced features of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Skype for Business, Office 365, and other commonly used office programs.
- Ability to take initiative and operate calmly under pressure, be an effective team member, and contribute to the overall success of the team.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships across departments and work teams, and to effectively manage projects and tasks with others at distant work sites.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to follow all safety-related practices, including the donning, doffing and sustained use of all personal protective equipment.
- Must be physically able to safely climb and descend ladders up to 360 feet, including weighing less than 280 pounds fully dressed and wearing all required personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to operate a computer for up to 8 hours in a workday, including typing, moussing, and reading from a monitor.
- Must be able to perform visual inspection of objects and environment, read small print, discern colors, and maintain visual awareness of environment and environmental hazards.
- Must have basic memorization and recall capacity, the ability to synthesize information, and the ability for complex thought processes.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are required of this position.
- Ability to travel from home location up to 70% of the time and for up to 4 weeks at a time.
- Ability to work a flexible on-call schedule when needed, this may include weekends, weeknights and possibly some holidays.
- A negative result on all pre-employment, reasonable basis, and post-accident drug screens.
- An acceptable driving record per Moventas’ insurance provider.
- Personal automobile insurance on any personal vehicle used for business purposes.
