Location/Division

The Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) provides a broad mix of analytical instruments and services to a diverse range of end-user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Life Sciences, Medical, Energy, Spectroscopy and Minerals and Mining. Its instruments are used worldwide in various settings, both in the field and on the line, where customers value adaptability, reliability, and ease of use. CAD operates within a global footprint with more than 4,000 colleagues, delivering product solutions to customers that allow for confident, on-the-spot decision-making. CAD is comprised of three business units:

  1. Measurement Control and Sample Identification
  2. Environmental and Process Monitoring
  3. Production Process and Analytics

The position supports the Bulk Elemental Analysis (BEA) business unit. This business drives value for our customers by enabling them to:
  1. Accelerate production
  2. Improve product quality
  3. Make process decisions faster
  4. Protect their brands

We manufacture high-quality analytical, product inspection, bulk weighing, and compliance solutions and serve multiple sectors with a focus on:
  1. Clean Energy (battery manufacture & minerals production)
  2. Food Safety (Product inspection and food packaging)
  3. Infrastructure (cement, mining & metals)

What will you do?

You will provide complete services on Spectroscopy instruments: optical emission spectroscopy (OES), x-ray fluorescence (XRF), and x-ray diffraction (XRD) including installation, repairs, preventative maintenance, and instrument qualifications. In addition to working with our customers, you will also regularly engage with other team members, sales, technical support, and engineering.
  1. Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and validation of optical emission spectroscopy (OES), x-ray fluorescence (XRF), and x-ray diffraction (XRD) systems.
  2. Use customer management software to resolve service calls, control parts inventories, and complete job tasks.
  3. Inspect malfunctioning products, analyze inspection findings to detect the source of the problem, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  4. Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
  5. Develop and conduct training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrate skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.

Minimum Education & Experience
High school diploma and 4+ years hands-on experience as a Service Engineer and Technical Support Engineer, particularly working with analytical instrumentation. Working experience with optical emission spectroscopy (OES), x-ray fluorescence (XRF), and x-ray diffraction (XRD) is a strong plus or Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Engineering or related field with 0 years' experience.

Proficiencies
  1. Customer oriented
  2. Technical knowledge of scientific equipment or related technology-based equipment
  3. Effective interpersonal communication and ability to establish good customer rapport
  4. Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation
  5. Ability to work independently within a customer location with minimal direct supervision required

Travel & Physical/Environmental requirements:
Ability to travel up to 70% at times within the territory or other areas as needed. Physical activities: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. with assistance on occasion, and safely lift and carry 25-30 lbs. continuously throughout the day. Environmental conditions: Inside office environment, travel by taxi, train, airplane, noise, hazards, & conditions at customer locations. Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
