Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist

This role is an onsite position based at customer location in Winnipeg Who will you be working with? Our team consists of Level 1 and 2 certified Technical Advisors that provide best-in-class support to our Class 1 locomotive operators. Their ability to understand the electro-mechanical locomotive to provide technical guidance, troubleshooting and materials helps improve railroad efficiency. How will you make a difference? As a member of the operations team supporting on-site at Locomotive Repair Centers, you will be responsible for guiding their craft to troubleshoot failures, provide solutions and material to repair their locomotives to ensure contractual performance. The customer relies on our expertise to train and advise their team to fix their locomotives in the most efficient manner possible. Essential Responsibilities:

1. Represent Wabtec in the customer facility by providing technical information, work scopes, troubleshooting, and recommended repairs for locomotive maintenance.
2. Use your technical network to escalate technical concerns and engage remote Wabtec technical resources to solve local customer problems.
3. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships at all levels within the customer shop.
4. Actively communicate within the shop and with the expanded Wabtec network to ensure technical accuracy and appropriate urgency.
5. Document repairs and material usage in eServices, including work order and defect close out notes, task sign offs, and component serial numbers.
6. Participates in customer failure review of shopped locomotives.
7. Train and support loading of all Wabtec supported Locomotive control and configuration software – e.g., DP, LDARS, GoLink, etc.
8. Locomotive parts warranty support.
9. Understand applicable industry regulations (Transport Canada / FRA / AAR).
10. Understand and apply all environmental, health, and safety rules to work safely and actively participate in a positive safety culture.
11. Maintain Wabtec assets at the customer site (material, IT, intellectual property, tooling).
12. Perform material handling (unpack, move, pack) with 100% compliance to safety guidelines.
13. Maintain the highest level of integrity and ethics in dealing with all customers and external suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

1. Electrical or Mechanical Locomotive experience.
2. Achieve Level 1 certification within 18 months of start date and actively work to improve technical knowledge and skill.

Desired Characteristics:

1. High energy self-starter comfortable interacting with the customer at all levels in a deadline driven environment.
2. Heavy diesel engine maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
3. Strong applied electrical troubleshooting background (AC & DC).
4. BS degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
5. Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively explain technical issues.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Willing and able to work various shifts on various days in a 24/7/365 environment.
2. Willing and able to follow railroad site safety procedures.
