THE ROLE: Field Geologists work collaboratively with Denison’s Technical Services Team to support advancing our portfolio of uranium projects in the Northern Athabasca Basin. The Field Geologists will be responsible for providing field-based technical support to Denison’s 2025 field program, including collecting, interpreting, and modelling field and subsurface data.

There are 4 vacancies available for this fixed-term contract as detailed below:

  1. 2 positions will commence on or around January 15, 2025, with an expected duration of approximately 8 months.
  2. 2 positions will start on or around March 1, 2025, with an anticipated term of approximately 6 months.

The successful candidates must be willing and able to regularly travel and work on a 2-week on/2-week off rotation at a remote field camp in the Northern Athabasca Basin and will be responsible for arranging their own travel to a designated pick-up point en-route from Denison’s warehouse in Saskatoon to the various field program sites. Denison offers competitive compensation and shall provide board and lodging while at the Project site and all required PPE.

Note: To be considered for this role, applicants must be eligible to work in Canada. The successful candidates will be required to work in accordance with Denison’s health and safety policies and procedures at all times. This role has been designated as a safety-sensitive position and is therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing as part of the pre-employment screening process and as required thereafter in accordance with company policy.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE: The Field Geologist brings strong technical skills and progressive experience in all aspects of the mining life cycle, with direct experience related to exploration and development activities and hands-on experience overseeing drilling operations. As a reliable, highly motivated, safety-oriented, project-driven geologist, the Field Geologist has solid organizational skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and demonstrated effectiveness in collaborating with others to achieve results. Additional qualifications and attributes include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of applicable work experience in mineral exploration or mining, preferably uranium, is preferred.
  3. Experience with GIS applications and 3D modelling packages (Leapfrog, Vulcan, Surpac, etc.) is preferred, along with office productivity software, including Microsoft Office Suite and SAP, accompanied by a willingness to learn and use other technologies and software as required.
  4. Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills that support safe, collaborative and inclusive relationships with peers and contractors within a remote workplace environment.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate, persuade and influence others.
  7. Adept at managing performance against key milestone deliverables.
  8. Strong problem-solving skills combined with a continuous improvement mindset to adapt in a dynamic and changing environment.
  9. Demonstrated ability to think critically to effectively evaluate and resolve complex problems.
  10. An uncompromising commitment to always working safely and reporting hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
  11. Possession of a valid Driver’s License that is in good standing, and the willingness to operate/be trained to operate vehicles in remote areas is required.
  12. Experience driving an ATV is an asset.
  13. Certified in First Aid is strongly preferred.
  14. Willingness and ability to carry out work tasks and duties outdoors up to 25% of the time, team lifting to 50 lbs regularly, and with varying hours of work (up to 11 hours per day while in the field).
  15. Ability to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and assigned; CSA-approved steel toe boots are mandatory for most tasks.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Accurately log, photograph and sample drill core, including high-grade uranium mineralization.
  2. Collect hydrogeological data through pump and injection testing.
  3. Install downhole pressure monitoring devices.
  4. Ensure that all geoscientific data is collected accurately and stored appropriately.
  5. Coordinate drill pad and trail preparation, spotting and stopping holes, and rig moves.
  6. Collect wireline geophysical data upon completion of drill holes.
  7. Assist in the interpretation and modelling of the geological and geochemical results.
  8. Generate drill targets, collaborate on drill hole planning and permitting, execute drill programs, and ensure the collection of quality geological data.
  9. Complete data compilation accurately and in a timely manner to support continued and upcoming field program activities.
  10. Prepare written reports on program status, and actively participate and contribute to status update meetings as required.
  11. Report any hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses, accidents and/or incidents immediately and report to work fit for duty.
  12. Occasionally assume the role of "Acting Supervisor" for site-based field employees as needed, ensuring that all duties and activities are carried out in accordance with the Company's health, safety, and environmental policies and protocols, as well as in compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  13. Exhibit best practices and behaviors related to both physical and psychological safety for oneself and colleagues by performing all responsibilities and tasks in accordance with the Company’s established policies, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  14. Perform other duties as assigned or as may be required.
