FASD Clinic Coordinator Position (40 hours/week)

Contract until March 31st, 2026 with possibility of extension

The Program – Neurodevelopmental Assessment & Diagnostic Centre (NDC):

Enviros’ Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Diagnostic and Assessment Clinic for both children and adults.

The Position – Clinic Coordinator:

The Clinic Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating multi-disciplinary FASD assessments, managing intake processes, and writing FASD assessment reports in collaboration with the Clinical Team. The Clinic Coordinator will also assist, along with the Clinical Team, in providing recommendations to individuals who have been recently diagnosed with FASD to better understand their unique strengths and provide individualized referrals to support some of their complex needs. The Coordinator, along with the Supervisor and Manager, will promote strong community partnerships, including collaboration with the Justice sector. Additionally, the Coordinator will participate in ongoing training to achieve a solid level of understanding of the FASD assessment and diagnostic processes, the most recent Canadian guidelines, and recommended FASD clinic best practices.


Duties will include:

  • Acts as the first point of contact for individuals as they enter the diagnostic process
  • Manage processes and procedures for the clinic
  • Work with clients and/or families to ensure all supporting documentation is completed
  • Support and interact with individuals and/or families in a way that incorporates their needs, perspectives, preferences, and experiences.
  • Educate individuals and/or families on the diagnostic process and what to expect at each appointment; assist individuals and/or families in getting to each appointment
  • Manage intake processes
  • Coordinate referrals
  • Consult with relevant professionals in collecting data for assessment, including court assessments
  • Work closely with clinicians on the team
  • Conduct intake and interviews of clients, families, and biological mothers (including clarification of expectations, obtaining relevant family, social, educational history, and prenatal alcohol history as required, and description of current concerns)
  • Facilitate completion of standardized questionnaires
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary team assessments
  • Educate social service providers in the referral and assessment process for FASD
  • Communicate best practice strategies based on assessment results
  • Collaborate with community and intersectoral groups and assist with community capacity building for pre and post-assessment education and support
  • Create and deliver presentations to stakeholders regarding FASD and best practices
  • Submit data for reports as required
  • Maintain training standards as required
  • Write FASD assessment reports in collaboration with the Clinical Team

Qualifications:


  • Minimum degree in nursing, social work, or other related health/social services field is required
  • Ability to create and maintain effective team relationships
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience working with teams of various professional backgrounds
  • Experience interviewing clients where sensitive and emotional information may be shared
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of FASD
  • Cultural sensitivity and intercultural skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Clear Criminal and Child Intervention check completed
