Job description

Northern Health is seeking a Family Practitioner with C-section and advanced operative delivery skills. Surgery would be limited to C-sections only. Prenatal Clinic work is required. Opportunities for GP Clinic work; Anesthesia and Emergency Room shifts also available if qualified. Put your enhanced skills training to good use in this varied and diverse practice opportunity!

Fort St. John Hospital is a new state-of-the-art 55 bed hospital and 123 bed residential care facility serving a population of approximately 23,000 and a catchment area of approximately 70,000. It has a state-of-the-art Birthing Centre with 600+ deliveries per year and CS call shared between a solo specialist OBG and one advanced skills FP. Prenatal and primary care OB is a shared model located in the hospital adjacent to the Delivery Suite.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City” and is located at Mile 47 of the world famous Alaska Highway! The city has numerous restaurants, cafés, and a health food store. It is the cultural and commercial hub of the Northeast, with a performing and visual arts centre, library, art gallery and theatre.

Recreational opportunities in the Fort St. John area include speed-skating, indoor walking track, indoor soccer, golf, tennis, yoga, dance, mountain biking, walking trails, hiking, boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, camping, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, curling, and hockey.

Fort St. John Regional Airport offers numerous daily direct flights to Vancouver and Calgary on Air Canada and WestJet.

Fort St. John has several educational institutions including seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and one private school (Kindergarten to Grade 12). The University of Northern British Columbia and Northern Lights College provide post-secondary education.

Compensation

Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service
Estimated Remuneration: $350,000 if maternity care augmented by clinical work, emergency work etc. All of which are available.
