Role and Facility Information
Come join our small but mighty team of 3 family physicians! This is a great opportunity to start slow, as this retiring physician is happy to practice sharing for the first couple of years. The retiring physician has been practicing and teaching residents and medical students for over 30 years and is hoping to retire by December 31, 2024. She currently has a 1000-patient panel encompassing all ages and conditions (no maternity or obstetrics).
The clinic, Southwood Medical Clinic, is in Driftwood Mall, anchored by a grocery store, bakery, and Canadian Tire. There is plenty of free parking available for patients and staff with easy transit access. The mall is located near the Comox Air Park for breaks in nature.
The clinic is fully EMR (Profile) with super helpful office staff. This is a PCN Clinic with Mental Health, Pharmacist, Social Work, and Dietitian support available. Hospital privileges are encouraged but not mandatory. Local evening and weekend Urgent Care shifts are available off-site.

Thriving population of the three geographically close communities of Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland. Total catchment population of approximately 70,000 people.
Local 6 year old, 125 bed hospital, Comox Valley Hospital with a great complement of specialists (no Cardiac/Thoracic surgery, no Neurosurgery, Neonates 36 weeks/g and older). 5 local Long Term Care facilities and 6 bed Hospice.
Many recreational opportunities locally: Sailing, swimming, beaches, water sports, golf, cycling (road and mountain biking), skiing (downhill and Nordic). Vibrant Arts community with many local artisans, several theatre groups and a busy music scene. Visiting musicians and other acts at the Sid Williams Theatre. May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Retention Premium 6.93% Retention Flat Fee $10,740 Relocation Funding Available $up to $15,000 Recruitment Incentive $up to $10,000 Other Benefits/Incentives Rural CME: Years 3 & 4: $2200/annum After 4 years: $4400/annum The above amounts are current as of August 2024 and may be subject to change.
