Clear Hills Youth Treatment Center (CHYTC) is located 17 kilometers from the hamlet of Hythe in Alberta and operates under the mandate to deliver Youth Addictions Programming and Services. CHYTC is currently seeking a self-motivated, highly experienced individual to fulfill the role of Counsellor Facilitator.
Specific Accountabilities
The Family Outreach Worker (FOW), under the Program Manager's direction, assists in implementing program and service needs at the Clear Hills Youth Treatment Center (CHYTC). The FOW provides non-judgmental support to families of youth in the program, advocating for additional resources to ensure client success. They connect families to community resources, build their capacity to navigate systems, and assist with daily life skills. The FOW contributes to CHYTC's success by effectively executing tasks, following policies, and achieving strategic objectives.
Required Key Functions
- Assist clients throughout orientation – welcoming clients to the facility and introducing staff, other clients, and going over the facility rules and standards.
- Supports Program Managers in the delivery of program objectives and strategies.
- Provides direct support to clients in individual and group activities.
- Provides supervision to clients when participating in individual and or group activities.
- Provides individual aide to support clients in transitioning through program delivery.
- Explains and educates clients on safety procedures.
- Assists clients in attending ceremonial practices when needed.
- Provides input to recreational planning and coordination.
- Enforce rules and regulations of activities to maintain discipline and ensure safety.
- Organize, lead, and promote interest in activities such as crafts, art, sports, and games, and encourage participation.
- Enforces and ensures that program delivery and services are monitored, and managed following applicable program delivery standards and regulations.
- Develop and execute program plans and services, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Monitor and track program progress, identifying risks, issues, and dependencies, and proactively implementing mitigation strategies.
- Provide program status updates and reports to the Program Manager, highlighting achievements, challenges, and action plans.
- Implement program management best practices, methodologies, and tools to drive program success and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, networks, and service providers.
- Write and report incidents of program irregularities and concerns to the Program Manager and assist in strategically resolving matters of concern.
Qualifications
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in the Human Services related discipline.
- 1 or more years related experience.
- Clear Criminal Records Check.
- Clear on Child Welfare Involvement Check.
- First Aid Certification.
- Open availability to provide services to youth on weekdays, evenings, and weekends to accommodate the needs of clients.
- Ability to work with youth and families from diverse communities.
- Knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing would be an asset.
Working Conditions
- Travel as required and/or requested.
- Self-control, ability to maintain composure, keep emotions in check, control anger, and avoid aggressive behavior, even in demanding situations.
- Overtime hours worked to ensure compliance with the planning, coordination, and administering of the CHYTC operational structure.
- Interacts extensively with employees, various management levels, and the public.
- Computer programs and software.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
