Faculty Position: Psychology
Tenure Track (Full Time)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Faculty of Social Science at The King’s University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment in our 4-year BSc Psychology program, beginning August 1, 2025. Our new BSc Psychology program builds on our successful BA Psychology programs and offers students a rich and rigorous study in psychology with an emphasis on its relationship to human physiology. The program will serve BSc psychology majors, BA psychology students, and BSc biology students by adding courses in biopsychology, neuropsychology, or psychopharmacology. We are committed to creating a vibrant BSc Psychology program at King's that fosters the inclusion of diverse perspectives and voices and that includes the voices of marginalized people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidates will bring with them a dedication to excellence in teaching and in research. Candidates will demonstrate an ability to teach a variety of courses in psychology, including topics such as growth and development, biopsychology, neuropsychology, or psychopharmacology. The successful candidate will have an innovative and active program of research with the ability to incorporate advanced undergraduate students into their research projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching the equivalent of 6 courses per year in undergraduate programming
  • Engagement in an ongoing scholarly research program
  • Ongoing service to the Psychology department, the Faculty of Social Science, and the greater university community and external stakeholders
  • Creating connections and developing relationships with students through advising, research supervision, and mentoring

The successful candidate will demonstrate a growing and evolving ability to articulate the connection between psychology and the Christian faith. Their approach would welcome diverse students and colleagues into a shared project of understanding our society and our times in the light of core faith commitments and values. The successful candidate will have a solid grounding in quantitative or qualitative approaches to scholarly research and will welcome the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary and collegial environment that also values autonomy and scholarly development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate is required to hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Psychology or a related field (e.g., Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Medicine). Candidates who are close to Ph.D. completion are encouraged to apply; the appointment will be contingent upon the completion of the Ph.D. by an agreed-upon date.

The King's University is a Christian liberal arts university offering three and four-year Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Music, and a two-year after-degree Bachelor of Education (Elementary and Secondary) accredited by the province of Alberta. The University is a member of Universities Canada and of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. Faculty members at The King's University are eligible for and are currently receiving Tri-Council funding. The faculty at The King's University are recognized for involving undergraduate students in their scholarship, with some faculty members having obtained external funding.

The King’s University follows a standardized salary grid. The salary range is $67,500 - $84,500/yr dependent on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefit package, pension, and generous vacation and time off are provided.
