Position SummaryBCIT’s School of Energy is seeking either a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) or two regular, part-time (0.5 FTE) Faculty, Industrial Network Cybersecurity. This position will deliver lectures and oversee laboratory activities, develop course material, evaluate student progress, supervise student projects, and support the day-to-day operations of the department. As a valued member of our team of respected faculty with extensive industry experience and knowledge, you will bring practical skills to the classroom, inspiring and guiding future practitioners in their field. Duties & ResponsibilitiesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver course and laboratory material into the Industrial Cybersecurity program and into other programs.
  • Leverage expertise to engage and challenge students and foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
  • Conduct student evaluation and perform other tasks as required for department operations.
  • Participate in developing, designing, and updating course curriculum to ensure the curriculum is current and promotes student learning and engagement.
  • Stay current in cybersecurity skills by engaging in ongoing professional development, including return to industry leaves, attending conferences, and training.
  • Participate in department activities, engage with team members, support continual improvement initiatives within the department, and perform other duties as specified in the collective agreement.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A diploma in networking or electronics engineering technologies, plus five or more years of relevant industry experience directly related to industrial networking and/or cybersecurity.
  • A bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, plus three or more years of relevant industry experience directly related to industrial networking and/or cybersecurity.
  • A combination of industry credentials and relevant experience (can include military credentials and experience) of 10 years or more directly related to industrial networking and/or cybersecurity.

In addition, the candidate must have:

  • Strong ethical principles.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to implement industrial networking on common industrial interfaces.
  • Experience with industrial protocols (for example: DeviceNet, ProfiNet, Modbus, OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, GOOSE, and DNP3).
  • A demonstrated ability to learn on the job.

The following are desirable:

  • Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels including international students and students requiring accommodation.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience or industry presentation experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, ISA 62443, IEC 61850.
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting process control devices and loops.
  • A broad knowledge of cybersecurity as it applies to industrial control systems.
  • A diverse set of skills, including skills in electronics, programming, and networking.
  • Knowledge and awareness of safety practices as applied in industrial settings.

Salary RangeSalary Range: $65,045 – $113,545 per annum.
Additional Salary InformationSalary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
