Facilities Service Worker

The Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM) is seeking to hire a new Facilities staff member as a key part of the team that helps deliver a clean and vibrant space for the community to gather, study, enrich, and enjoy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Keeping building and property in clean and orderly condition
2. Performing routine cleaning activities, including:
1. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming floors
2. Scrubbing, sanitizing, and supplying restroom facilities
3. Dusting furniture, walls, and equipment
4. Cleaning windows, mirrors, and partitions
5. Preparing & mixing cleaning solutions
3. Setting up rooms & equipment for classes and lessons
4. Facilitating room entry / control of faculty and students

Qualifications and Requirements

1. Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
2. Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
3. Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and objects
4. Ability to perform repetitive motion for periods of time
5. Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
6. Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
7. Building Service Worker Level 1 / WHIMIS training / certificate considered an asset
8. A friendly and helpful personality who will interact professionally with students, concertgoers, faculty, and staff.

Hours : Permanent Full-time position, generally hours / week with days.

Compensation : $ plus a competitive benefit package, including a bonus paid vacation week at Winter Break, Extended Health, Dental Health Spending Account, and Personal Wellness Days.

Start Date : As soon as possible.
