Position Title: Facilities Maintenance

Supervisor: Facilities Manager

Employee Status: Year-round, full time / salary

Location: In-person, Shelburne, VT

Time Commitment: Typical 5 and half days, including on-call and weekends and holidays

Salary Range: $30,000 - $35,000 (Job includes on-site housing at no additional cost)

Who We’re Looking for

Someone who is excited by the opportunity to support and maintain a large, complex campus.

With guidance from the facility manager and as part of the Buildings & Landscape team, you’ll perform diversified duties to improve, repair, protect, and maintain campus facilities and equipment.

What You’ll Do

Work closely in assisting the Facilities Manager and Buildings and Landscape team with 24/7 maintenance and emergency services support of the farm’s facilities and operations including:

  • Buildings repairs and maintenance:
    • Monitoring and maintaining building safety and fire protection systems
    • Plumbing systems, including seasonal opening and closing of the Inn and other facilities
    • Electrical and mechanical systems, including heating and cooling systems
    • Potable water and wastewater systems
  • Events setup and breakdown, and parking
  • Janitorial services
  • Garbage, recycling, and compost chore systems
  • Operations improvements to support climate action plan
  • Snow plowing, shoveling, and road sanding
  • Accident prevention and safety support for guests and staff
  • Meter readings

Core Qualifications (All candidates must meet these qualifications to be considered for the position)

  • Relevant education and/or work experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building trades
  • Able to work independently as needed
  • Valid driver's license that meets the minimum requirements:
    • No more than one at-fault accident, two minor moving violations, or two non-moving violations within the past year AND
    • Zero major moving violations within the past three years (examples: driving with suspended/invalid license, DUI, reckless driving). No more than two major moving violations in the past 10 years
  • Computer and internet proficiency to include Google Drive and Gmail
  • Able to work longer weeks during peak demand periods and flexible to work evenings, weekends, holidays

Additional Valued Qualifications (Helpful for success in this role, but not required to apply)

  • Certifications: Certifications such as a Journeyman Plumber, Electrical, or HVAC License are helpful but not required for this role.
